Emerito F. Salud, Esq. (Merit), Vice-President

 He was born in Manila on Feb. 12, 1949. His roots are from San Juan, Batangas  and Dumalag, Capiz. A product of San Beda College, Manila , San Juan Elementary School of San Juan,MM and  Don Bosco Technical School of Mandaluyong, he finished his college  at the Ateneo De Manila University in 1969 with a degree in BS Political Science and went on to finish his Bachelors of Law  at the Ateneo law School , class  of ‘73. He joined the Legal Office of the President, Office of the President of the Philippines in 1975 and went to private practice after 3 years. He was later recruited to the Ministry of Human Settlements  where he was first introduced to community development. It was the start of his new found love.  He migrated to the U.S. in 1992. The following year, he took the NY Bar and passed it in 1993.  

The late Racquel Z. Ordonez, a community activist  par excellence from U.P. and a mentor/friend , together with Dr. Orlando Apiado, a U.S. certified Cardiologist from U. P. College of Medicine and Chair Emeritus of the Movement for Free Philippines , reintroduced him to community development with the FILAM community at the Big Apple.  He was one of the founding members of NaFFAA in 1996 and also of FALDEF in 2008. He was the chairman of the committee which drafted the first constitution of NaFFAA. In  2007, he became the first Director for Advocacy in the history of NaFFAA, when Atty. JT Mallonga appointed him as Director for Advocacy of NaFFAA Region One. When the latter reorganized the priorities and programs of the region.  NaFFAA Region 1 has never been the same again. Currently, he is the REGIONAL CHAIR of NaFFAA Region 1 and 2nd Vice President of FALDEF, handling external affairs and education. He also sits as a Co-Chair of NaFFAA National’s FILAM VOTE program.

He retired from his Legal private practice in 2005 and devotes his time to his advocacies in the FILAM community. 

Merit , as his colleagues call him, is married to Ma. Norma G. Aquino of Sto. Tomas, Pampanga.  She was a doctor in the Philippines but is a practicing nurse  at Roosevelt/ St. Lukes Hospital in NYC since 1988.  They reside in Bloomfield, NJ. They are blessed with three children , MM, working at Planned Parenthood in NYC , is married to Emily Estrada; Sajara, an ER nurse at Jersey City Medical center, is married to Angel Gonzales of Puerto Rico and Jersey City,  and Abigail, an accountant with Brystol and Meyers Pharmaceuticals  based in London, is married to Tom Kynn of Prague, Chekoslavakia.
