Marcela "Cely" Deauna, Treasurer

Retired bank executive Marcela “Cely” Deauna (TD Bank AVP), and Catanduanes former beauty queen (Miss Calolbon), isBergenfield’s doyenne of community service.

 Together with her just as busy husband, Buddy Deauna, she is active in many activities in town.  She was the President of the Board of Trustees of the Bergenfield Public Library and Co-Chairperson of the Millennium Capital Fund Campaign (St. John the Evangelist, RCC), past president of Catanduanes International Association where she led 2008’s highly successful medical mission, and the treasurer of “Friends of Mayor Rivas.”  She is the current treasurer of NaFFAA Region 1,  VP-Finance of the Philippine Hearts and Hopes Society, and Director of Filipino American Legal Defense & Education Fund.

A recipient of a proclamation from former Governor James McGreevey, State of New Jersey, for outstanding service to the Filipino-American community.  An awardee of the “Mabuhay Award” for exemplary leadership from National Association of Filipino Americans.

Cely has four children and five grandchildren but she finds time serving as Lector and Eucharistic Minister of St. John the EvangelistChurch in Bergenfield.  She is a long time member and former co-chair of the Filipino Apostolate of St. John.  She is a graduate of Philippine College of Commerce and considered one of the most respected successful and influential Filipinas in the eastern seaboard
